Police arrest nine suspected robbers and recover stolen cars in Abuja
Nine suspected armed robbers have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory Police Command. According to spokesperson Josephine Adeh, the suspects were apprehended after a robbery incident in Jikwoyi. The police recovered stolen vehicles and several other items from the suspects. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged in court.
What happened
- The police received a report that on January 18, 2026, armed robbers invaded a residence in Jikwoyi, stealing personal belongings, money, and a Toyota Corolla.
- The suspects were traced and arrested on January 26, 2026, at their hideout in Nasarawa State, where they were allegedly planning another robbery in Asokoro.
- Those arrested include Mohammed Yanusa, Abubakar Mohammed, Isah Salihu, Nura Zakare, John Paul Itodo, Augustin Daudu, Musbau Ali, Innocent Omale, and Usman Mohammed.
- Items recovered from the suspects include multiple vehicles, laptops, electronics, and bottles of wine.
- The suspects confessed to selling stolen vehicles in Kaduna and Kano for between ₦550,000 and ₦650,000, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the buyers.
