
Police arrest teenager and others for tricycle theft in Yobe
Three suspects, including 18-year-old Shettima Adamu, have been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command over burglary, theft, and tricycle robbery. The arrests followed complaints from shop owners in the Bayan Tasha and Nayi Nawa areas of Damaturu. Police say the suspects confessed to their roles, and some stolen items were recovered. Abdulrazaq Abdul’Azeez was also arrested in connection with a tricycle robbery in Potiskum.
What happened
- Shettima Adamu and five accomplices were arrested for criminal conspiracy, trespass, theft, and receiving stolen property.

- The accomplices include Abdullahi Abubakar, Mohd Suleman, Hassan Adamu, Mohd Hayatu, and Mohd Nura.
- In a related case, Abdulrazaq Abdul’Azeez was arrested after a tricycle operator was robbed and rendered unconscious at about 3:30 p.m. on February 2, 2026.
- The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, emphasized the command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged youths to seek legitimate livelihoods.
