Katsina boosts renewable energy with major solar projects
The Katsina State Government has deployed over 30MW of renewable energy capacity as part of efforts to address energy poverty and improve electricity supply. Dr. Hafiz Ahmed, Special Adviser to Governor Dikko Umar Radda on Power and Energy, highlighted the state’s focus on solar power and other renewables. Government facilities, hospitals, and schools are transitioning from diesel generators to solar-powered systems, resulting in significant cost savings. Katsina is also investing in hydropower and upgrading electricity infrastructure in partnership with local and international organizations.
