
Police arrest teenager and others for tricycle theft in Yobe
Three to four sentences:
Shettima Adamu, an 18-year-old, has been arrested by the Yobe State Police Command for alleged burglary and theft in Damaturu. Alongside him, five accomplices were also apprehended for their roles in criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property. The police recovered some stolen items and a tricycle linked to a robbery in Potiskum. CP Emmanuel Ado reaffirmed the command’s commitment to fighting crime and urged youths to seek legitimate livelihoods.
What happened
- Shettima Adamu was arrested at about 4 a.m. on February 2, 2026, after multiple complaints of burglary and theft in Damaturu.
- Five accomplices—Abdullahi Abubakar, Mohd Suleman, Hassan Adamu, Mohd Hayatu, and Mohd Nura—were also arrested for buying and selling stolen property.
- Some stolen items were recovered and marked as exhibits by the police.
- In a related case, Abdulrazaq Abdul’Azeez was arrested in connection with the robbery of a tricycle in Potiskum, following a distress report at about 3:30 p.m. on February 2, 2026.
- The stolen tricycle was intercepted at a police checkpoint in Gaya, Kano State, and is now in police custody as an exhibit.
