
Six suspected kidnappers arrested in Edo forest operation

Six suspected kidnappers were arrested by the Edo State Police Command in a joint operation with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies. The raid, led by Monday Agbonika and based on intelligence from a rescued victim, took place deep in Agbede Forest, Etsako East Local Government Area. The suspects are currently being investigated by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Benin for prosecution. Eno Ikoedem highlighted the operation as a strong message to criminal elements in the region.
What happened
- The Edo State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other agencies, carried out a raid in Agbede Forest, Etsako East Local Government Area.
- The operation was launched after a kidnapped victim identified the location of the kidnappers' camp.
- Monday Agbonika personally led the joint team through difficult terrain to reach the camp, resulting in the arrest of six suspects.
- The suspects, including Mikel Gendaga, Yusuf Abubakar, Isyaka Abraham, Isyaka Abubakar, Mohammed Sumo, and Mohammed Abubakar, are being profiled and investigated.
- The Commissioner of Police urged the public to support security agencies with credible information to help combat crime in Edo State.
