What to expect at this year’s Grammys night
Grammys night promises standout performances, bold fashion, and possibly some music history. Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, Bad Bunny, Sabrina Carpenter, Leon Thomas, Tyler the Creator, Clipse, and Justin Bieber are all in the running for Album of the Year, none of whom have won the category before. Trevor Noah returns as host for what organizers say will be his final time. The event will also see new award categories introduced by the Recording Academy.
What we know
- The Album of the Year category could see a historic win, with none of the current nominees having previously won.
- If Kendrick Lamar wins, he would be the first male solo rapper to take the title; if Bad Bunny wins, it would be the first Spanish-language album to do so.
- Three Song of the Year nominees are not entirely in English, and a win for “Golden,” “APT,” or Bad Bunny’s “DTMF” would mark a first for bilingual or Spanish-language songs.
- Trevor Noah is hosting the Grammys for the sixth and final time, with organizers praising his impact on the show.
- New categories include best traditional country album and best album cover, while some existing categories have been consolidated.
