Three sentenced to death for robbery and kidnapping in Kwara
Three people have been sentenced to death by the Kwara State High Court for armed robbery, rape, and kidnapping. The crimes were committed against Mr Olubunmi Komolafe and Mrs Adeola Morenikeji at their farm in Ilorin. Justice Funsho Lawal delivered the judgment, convicting Patrick Afedia Adams, Tijani Usman, and Ahmed Muhammad on multiple counts. The court also imposed additional sentences, including life imprisonment and a 20-year jail term.
What happened
- The court found Patrick Afedia Adams, Tijani Usman, and Ahmed Muhammad guilty of conspiracy, rape, armed robbery, and kidnapping.
- The offences took place on 15th June, 2025, at Kangile village, Kulende area, Ilorin, where the victims were robbed and kidnapped.
- The convicts demanded a ransom of five million, which was transferred to the wife's account, but only N4,000 was withdrawn before their arrest.
- Tijani Usman received an extra 20-year sentence for rape, proven with medical reports and his confession.
- Both prosecution and defence counsel expressed satisfaction with the judgment, while the convicts pleaded for mercy.
