
NDLEA arrests hundreds and destroys cannabis farms in Ondo
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested 336 people for cannabis-related offences in Ondo State in 2025. Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) revealed that the agency seized over 22,000 kilograms of illicit drugs and destroyed 207,000 kilograms of cannabis from farms. He highlighted the serious impact of drug abuse on communities and its link to criminal activities. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa pledged his administration’s continued support for the agency’s efforts.
What happened
- Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.) announced that in 2025, the NDLEA arrested 336 suspects and seized 22,316 kilograms of illicit substances in Ondo State.
- The agency destroyed 207,000 kilograms of cannabis from plantations and farms during the year.
- Marwa stated that Ondo State has a drug-use prevalence rate of 17 per cent, affecting about 400,000 people.
- The NDLEA has a counselling and rehabilitation centre in the state, where 243 people have received treatment.
