
Brazilian woman caught with N3bn heroin at Abuja airport
A 30-year-old Brazilian woman, Ingrid Benevides, was arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. She was found with over 30 kilograms of heroin concealed in coffee packs, valued at more than N3bn. The NDLEA also reported several other drug seizures and arrests across the country. Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokesperson, detailed these operations in a recent statement.
What happened
- Ingrid Benevides was arrested at the Abuja airport with 30.09 kilograms of heroin hidden in factory-sealed coffee packs.
- She claimed she was visiting Nigeria for holidays but was found to be smuggling drugs.
- NDLEA operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, intercepted two passengers, Adediran Adedoyin and Afatakpa Ochuko, with 3,990 pills of tapentadol and tramaking concealed in food items.
- A wooden boat carrying 44 jumbo bags of Ghana Loud cannabis was seized at Jakande Beach, Lekki, Lagos.
- Two suspects, Aminu Baba and Abdulrasheed Abubakar, were arrested in Kaduna State with bags containing 140 packets of explosives destined for Kano and Kaduna.
