
Police arrest teen and three others for drugs, kidnapping and robbery
Four suspects, including a 16-year-old, have been arrested by the Niger State Police Command for alleged drug offences, kidnapping, and armed robbery. The police, led by spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun, made the arrests in different parts of the state. Usman Aliyu, the teenage suspect, was caught with weapons and drugs and confessed to selling illicit substances. Three other suspects were apprehended for their involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, with ongoing efforts to capture additional gang members.
What happened
- Usman Aliyu, 16, was arrested on January 8, 2026, in the Kantoma area of Suleja with weapons and drugs after police responded to reports of hoodlums.
- Aliyu confessed to selling drugs in the area and was arraigned in court for prosecution.
- On 16th January, 2026, police arrested Mamman Bello (18), Ibrahim Adamu (20), and Umar Abubakar (25) for alleged kidnapping and armed robbery.
- Bello and Adamu were apprehended in Ilorin, Kwara State, after relocating from Niger State, and confessed to kidnapping activities.
- Abubakar was arrested in Garatu for armed robbery, confessed to the crime, and revealed the gang sold a stolen motorcycle for six hundred thousand naira.
