
Police rescue abducted victims and recover rifles in Gombe
Three people were rescued by the Gombe State Police Command after an attack in Pindiga District, Akko Local Government Area. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, suspected bandits invaded several villages, resulting in abductions and fatalities. The police, alongside hunters and vigilante groups, intervened and recovered weapons and other items. CP Umar Ahmed Chuso assured the public of ongoing efforts to maintain security.
What happened
- The attack began in the early hours of January 24, 2026, when suspected bandits invaded Rahama Village via Gagarabami.
- Tela Bello Ahmadu was shot and killed, and his two sons, Saleh Tela and Abdullahi Tela, were abducted.
- The attackers also abducted Babayo Garba, Malam Abba Musa, and Baayo Bayi from Lambo Village.
- During the police operation, Baayo Bayi was caught in the crossfire and later confirmed dead, while Babayo Garba and Malam Abba Musa were rescued.
- Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, sixty-eight rounds of live ammunition, expended shells, motorcycles, and cash, and are intensifying efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects.
