Customs launch search for smugglers after officers attacked
The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command, has started a manhunt for smugglers who attacked its officers during an anti-smuggling operation in Iwoye, Imeko-Afon, Ogun State. According to spokesperson Zakari Chado, the officers were ambushed while intercepting a truck suspected of carrying illicit drugs and other prohibited items. The attackers used barricades and firearms, resulting in two officers being critically injured. Acting Customs Area Controller Olukayode Afeni condemned the violence and assured that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.
