FG may close Lagos–Calabar highway over safety issues
The Federal Government has warned that Section One of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway could be closed if motorists continue to endanger lives and disrupt construction. Dave Umahi, Minister of Works, highlighted concerns about reckless driving and recent accidents at the site. The highway was temporarily opened to ease traffic, but indiscipline among drivers has led to fatalities and congestion. Bola Tinubu intervened previously to keep the road open, but further incidents may force a closure.
