Two arrested for cable theft by NSCDC in Kogi
Two suspects have been arrested by the Kogi State command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for allegedly stealing and destroying underground communication cables. The arrests were made by officers stationed at the Zariagi–Kabba junction in Lokoja. Habibu Muhammad and Bello Ismaila reportedly confessed to the crime and revealed information about their criminal network. The command has intensified efforts to apprehend other accomplices involved.
What happened
- Officers apprehended Habibu Muhammad, 21, and Bello Ismaila, 20, while they were excavating and removing cables along the Zariagi–Obajana road on Monday, 20 January 2026.
- The suspects confessed and implicated one Isah, who allegedly directed their activities, and an accomplice named Abuh, who reprocesses the stolen cables.
- The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Abdullahi Aliyu, disclosed these details to journalists in Lokoja.
- State Commandant Aletan Olumide Ebenezer praised the officers for their professionalism and warned the public against criminal activities.
- The command has intensified investigations to arrest the accomplices and has promised to prosecute the suspects after the investigation.
