Organisers set new rules to stop athlete poaching at Niger Delta Games
Dunamis-Icon Limited, organisers of the Niger Delta Games, have reinforced a ban on states presenting non-indigenous athletes for the event’s second edition in Edo State. The managing consultant, Sir Itiako Malik Ikpokpo, emphasized that only verified indigenes can compete, aiming to boost grassroots sports development. The organisers have also introduced a monitoring system to ensure compliance and set an age limit for participants. The event will feature 17 sports and is sponsored by the Niger Delta Development Commission.
