INEC to expand voter registration to 207 new centres in Plateau
The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced plans to extend Permanent Voter Cards registration to 207 new centres in Plateau State. Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, the Resident Electoral Commissioner, shared this development during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Commission’s headquarters in Jos. The initiative aims to boost voter registration and participation across the state. Emmanuel Adesina, the state Commissioner of Police, praised INEC’s engagement with stakeholders and called for greater cooperation during elections.

- Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq revealed that the second phase of Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) began on January 5, 2026, and will end on April 17, 2026.
- The new 207 registration centres are planned to start operations on February 2, 2026, with registration running for fifty days.
- Registration is open to Nigerian citizens aged 18 and above, those not previously registered, and those needing to update their information.
- Registrants are urged to complete their registrations and collect their PVCs, as multiple registrations may lead to delisting.
- Between January 5 and 16, 2026, 1,720 new registrations, 948 transfers, 754 updates, and 468 replacements were recorded.
