Abuja stadium upgrade to cost N24bn from sports budget
The Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja is set for a major upgrade, with N24.6bn allocated from the National Sports Commission’s budget. Bola Tinubu presented a “Budget of Restoration” that significantly increased Nigeria’s sports funding. The stadium, opened in 2003 during Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration, has faced criticism over its poor condition despite previous renovations. The NSC is targeting several projects, including improvements to sporting infrastructure and preparations for upcoming international competitions.
