Ogun developer claims harassment over estate investment
A developer, Kunle Owolabi, has alleged ongoing harassment and intimidation by armed men over his property in the Denro community, Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State. Owolabi, founder of Rigini Homes Limited, said his company invested over N1bn in the estate, with much of the funding coming from Nigerians abroad. He claims repeated appeals to the state’s land grabber unit and the police have not resolved the issue. The situation has reportedly left several investors concerned about the safety of their investments.
What happened
- Kunle Owolabi said his company acquired 14 acres of land, with documentation completed for 11 acres and four plots.
- He alleged that unknown persons invaded the property at night, demolishing boundary pillars, which were rebuilt and destroyed again the next day.
- Owolabi reported the incidents to the police and the land grabber unit, but said no effective action was taken.
- He claimed that armed men began openly threatening him, and that some people advised paying them off to stop the harassment.
- Owolabi warned that persistent land grabbing and intimidation are discouraging genuine investors from real estate in the area.
