Police arrest suspect over killing of six-year-old girl in Anambra
A 28-year-old man, Friday Akonobi, has been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command for his alleged involvement in the abduction and ritual killing of a six-year-old girl. The victim, Ozioma Nwankwo, was reportedly abducted from Ebonyi State and sold to an Enugu-based suspected native doctor, Obieze Ezeani. Police say Akonobi confessed to the crime and implicated four accomplices who are still at large. The case has drawn public attention after related videos circulated on social media.
What happened

- Friday Akonobi was arrested in the early hours of January 17, 2026, by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
- The suspect allegedly confessed to collaborating with four others and selling the victim to Obieze Ezeani in Enugu State.
- The victim was reportedly murdered and used for ritual purposes, with each accomplice allegedly paid ₦1 million per victim.
