Police arrest suspects and seize drugs in Jigawa operations
Police in Jigawa State have arrested 20 suspects and recovered 24,000 illicit drug tablets in a series of operations. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shi’isu Adam, these successes were achieved through intelligence, patrols, and public cooperation. Several suspects were apprehended for various offenses, including drug trafficking, theft, and robbery. The police commended residents for their support and urged continued vigilance.
What happened
- Tukur Abdulmumin and Adamu Babangida were arrested in Sule Tankarkar LGA with 24,000 tablets of Exol, valued at about ₦1.2 million, allegedly being transported from Kano State.
- On January 12, Usman Isah was arrested in Guri LGA with a suspected stolen motorcycle; investigations revealed the motorcycle was stolen on January 9, 2026, and linked to another theft on January 4, 2026.
- On January 11, 2026, police intercepted a vehicle with five suspects and two cows believed to be stolen, and also responded to a robbery report by Mujahid Rashid, leading to an arrest.
- Seven suspects were arrested for livestock theft, and two others, Muktar Sallau and Aliyu Muhammad, were apprehended on January 10, 2026, for conspiracy and theft of a phone and cash.
- The police recovered stolen property, charged some cases to court, and are continuing investigations to apprehend remaining suspects and reunite stolen items with owners.
