TUC condemns health ministry’s no work, no pay directive
The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) has strongly opposed a circular from the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare enforcing a “No Work, No Pay” policy against members of the Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU). The directive, signed by Dr Abisola Adegoke, orders the stoppage of salaries for striking JOHESU members through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System starting from January 2026. The TUC, led by Festus Osifo and N. A. Toro, described the move as provocative and a violation of industrial relations principles. The union has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the circular and threatened nationwide action if their demands are not met.
What we know
