NDLEA highlights major drug arrests and seizures in Edo

The Edo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Mitchell Ofoyeju, announced significant achievements in the agency’s fight against drug trafficking. In 2025, the NDLEA arrested 462 suspects and seized over 207,595kg of illicit drugs in Edo State. The command also destroyed multiple cannabis farms and secured 66 convictions. - Mitchell Ofoyeju reported that 462 suspects, including 309 males and 153 females, were arrested in 2025.
- The NDLEA seized 207,595.54kg of illicit drugs, including cannabis, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, psychotropic substances, and codeine-based syrup.
- The agency destroyed 45 cannabis farms covering 77.5122 hectares, with an estimated yield of 193,491.1568kg of drugs.
- 66 convictions were secured, while 104 cases remained pending at the Federal High Court in 2025.
