
Fire destroys tricycles and tankers at Kano filling stations
No fewer than 17 tricycles and two petrol tankers were destroyed in two separate fire incidents at filling stations in Kano State. The Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the events and detailed the response by emergency services. The fires broke out during the offloading of petroleum products, leading to significant property loss. The Director of the State Fire Service, Sani Anas, has urged stricter adherence to safety measures.
What happened
- Saminu Abdullahi reported that the first fire occurred at AA Ayagi filling station in Kanye village, Kabo LGA, destroying a fuel tanker during offloading.
- The second incident took place at Al-Wahida Nigeria Limited filling station in Rimin Kebe Karshen Kwalta, Nassarawa LGA, where a tanker and 17 tricycles were burnt.
- The fire at Al-Wahida started while offloading around 45,000 litres of petroleum products.
- Another fire at Kundila Quarters, near SALSA College, destroyed parts of a residential building.
- Sani Anas advised filling station operators and tanker drivers to strictly follow safety regulations when handling flammable materials.
