
Fire destroys petrol station and vehicles in Oyo community
A fire outbreak completely destroyed the RSK Adebowale Multipurpose Filling station, a petrol tanker, and a motorcycle in the Ofiki area of Saki, Oyo State. Mr Moroof Akinwande, Chairman of the state Fire Services Agency, confirmed the incident and praised the swift response of his team. The fire was eventually extinguished, preventing further damage to nearby properties. A similar incident was reported in the Kara area of Kishi, Irepo Local Government Area, where property worth millions was lost.
What happened
- The RSK Adebowale Multipurpose Filling station, a tanker truck with 50,000 litres of petrol, a motorcycle, and three fuel pumps were destroyed by fire in Ofiki, Saki.
- Mr Moroof Akinwande said firemen led by Mr Kolade Taiwo responded quickly after a distress call from Alhaji Mufutau Badmus.
- The fire was contained and stopped from spreading to other properties.
- The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps provided security during the firefighting operation.
- A previous fire incident in the Kara area of Kishi destroyed three vehicles and a community power house at a filling station.
