Kogi state starts work on upgrading nine livestock markets
The Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project has started the rehabilitation and upgrade of nine livestock markets across the state. Olufemi Bolarin, Commissioner for Livestock Development, praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his dedication to the sector. The project aims to improve infrastructure and boost productivity for livestock farmers and marketers. Community leaders and stakeholders have pledged their support for the successful completion of the project.
What we know
- The Kogi L-PRES Project has begun work on nine livestock markets across the state.
- Abdulkabir Otaru, the State Project Coordinator, said the project has World Bank approval and contracts have been awarded to RSA Global Investment Limited.
- Each market will receive new facilities such as administrative blocks, veterinary clinics, security posts, water and toilet facilities, solar street lights, and loading/unloading ramps.
- Community leaders, including Abdullahi Adamu and traditional rulers, have promised support for the project’s success.
- The project aims to address infrastructure challenges and improve the productivity and resilience of the livestock sector in Kogi State.
