The Lagos State Environmental Taskforce arrested 56 suspects during an overnight clean-up enforcement operation in the Mainland area. The operation was disclosed by Tokunbo Wahab, Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, Lagos State. The task force targeted Akowonjo Road by Cele Bus Stop, which had reportedly become a hub for illegal activities. The operation is part of an ongoing effort to enforce environmental laws and improve safety in the state.

- The task force began its operation at about 0020hrs on 10th January, 2026 in the Mainland area.
- Tokunbo Wahab shared details of the operation via a video and caption on X.
- Officers focused on Akowonjo Road by Cele Bus Stop, clearing the area of illegal beer parlours, drug peddling, and criminal elements.
- All items obstructing traffic, such as chairs and tables, were seized during the operation.
- The 56 arrested suspects will be arraigned in court as soon as possible.
