
Teenager charged with murder of Nigerian man in London stabbing
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Nigerian, John Onetufo, following a fatal stabbing in Lewisham, London. The United Kingdom Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrest and charge in a statement. Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Townsend is leading the investigation and has appealed to the public for information. Two other suspects have also been arrested and granted bail as enquiries continue.
What happened
- John Onetufo, 23, was found with stab wounds to his chest after a distress call to police.
- Paramedics tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
- A 17-year-old boy was charged with murder on Monday, 5 January and is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Youth Court on Monday, 5 January.
- The fatal stabbing occurred in Grove Street, Lewisham, on Wednesday, 31 December.
- Two other suspects, a 23-year-old man arrested on Friday, 2 January and an 18-year-old woman arrested on Sunday, 4 January, were granted bail pending further investigation.
