Nigeria sees over 19,000 measles cases and 153 deaths in 2025
Nigeria has confirmed 19,213 measles cases and 153 deaths from the disease between January and November 2025. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) reported that most cases occurred in children who had not received the measles vaccine. Outbreaks were recorded in 188 local government areas across 27 states.
"Up to 77% of confirmed cases had not received any dose of the measles vaccine."
