
Speeding car kills boy and injures four children in Lagos
A tragic incident occurred when a yet-to-be-identified driver lost control of a vehicle and crashed into five children in the Lekki area of Lagos State. According to Margaret Adeseye, Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, one nine-year-old boy died at the scene, while four other children sustained severe injuries. The accident involved a Lexus RX 300 jeep and happened along Wole Olateju Crescent. The matter has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
What happened
- Margaret Adeseye confirmed that a Lexus RX 300 jeep lost control due to suspected overspeeding and hit five male children aged between eight and 13.
- Four of the children were severely injured and taken to a hospital by sympathisers, while one nine-year-old boy died at the scene.
- The incident took place at No. 1, Wole Olateju Crescent, Kingshisha, Lekki Phase 1, within Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
- The vehicle was evacuated by a private towing company and taken to the Maroko Police Station, with officers from the Maroko Police Division present.
- In a separate incident, two men were rescued alive after being trapped in a fuel tanker during repair works opposite Ecobank in Apapa.
