
Police arrest suspects and seize illegal arms in Kebbi
The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested several suspected kidnappers and recovered illegal firearms during recent security operations. According to command spokesman SP Bashar Usman, the efforts targeted kidnapping networks and aimed to reduce the spread of illicit weapons. What happened
- The police conducted week-long tactical operations between December 21 and 26, 2025, resulting in arrests and weapon seizures.
- Iliya D. Bano was arrested in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area for allegedly threatening residents with kidnapping unless a ransom was paid.
- Another suspect, Danisa Yakub, was apprehended for demanding ₦1 million from a resident under threat of abduction and admitted involvement in a previous kidnapping.
- In Kalgo Local Government Area, ten locally made firearms were recovered from three suspects: Aliyu Muhammad Sambawa, Salihu Haruna, and Suleiman Isah.
- CP Bello Sani and the police command emphasized ongoing investigations and called for public cooperation to maintain security in Kebbi State.
