Grenade explosion injures female soldier and children in Nasarawa
A female soldier named Mohammed and two children were injured in a grenade explosion at Maraba, Abacha Road, Nasarawa. The incident happened when a woman found a grenade during cleaning and asked the soldier to help identify it. The device detonated while being handled, causing severe injuries. - A woman found a grenade in her apartment, left there three years earlier by a yet-to-be-identified soldier serving in the North East.
- The grenade exploded as Mohammed tried to identify it, injuring her and two children belonging to the woman.
- Mohammed was first treated at a private hospital in Keffi, then transferred to Defence Headquarters Medical Centre in Abuja, and later referred to Cedarcrest Hospital, Apo.
- The Director of Defence Operations, Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, stated he has not been briefed on the incident.
