
Fatal Kogi road accident leaves 12 dead and two injured

A tragic road accident occurred along the Ejule–Enugu highway in Kogi State, resulting in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to two others. The incident happened late at night when a passenger bus collided with a stationary vehicle due to over-speeding. Mr Tenimu Etuku of the FRSC confirmed the details while urging motorists to drive safely, especially during festive periods. The accident has raised concerns about road safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
What happened
- The crash took place around 11:30 pm in the Iboko community of Idah Local Government Area on June 5, 2025.
- An 18-seater Toyota Hiace bus, traveling from Abuja, crashed into a parked articulated vehicle after reportedly over-speeding.
- Mr Tenimu Etuku stated that one of the deceased was a child, and the injured were taken to Mercy of Jesus Hospital, Ejule.
- The FRSC has emphasized the dangers of excessive speed and reckless overtaking, especially during festive seasons.
