Federal government starts paying Akwa Ibom farmers for highway project
The Federal Government has begun compensating Akwa Ibom farm owners impacted by the Coastal Highway construction. According to the Ministry of Works, affected individuals should visit the Federal Secretariat Complex in Uyo for verification and documentation. Vincent Okoduwa emphasized the importance of bringing required documents to complete the process. The exercise started on December 1, 2025, and will continue into early 2026.

- The compensation is for farmland owners in Okobo, Nsit Atai, and Uruan Local Government Areas affected by Section 3A of the Coastal Highway.
